ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I love cake. I love photography. I love photographing wedding cakes. All weddings have wedding cakes. It seems I was destined to photograph weddings. How cool is that!

I was bitten hard by the photography bug while a poor college freshman after my mom gave me 50 bucks to buy my dad's old Canon Ftb 35mm camera. There's a long story there that I'd be happy to tell but, suffice to say, it didn't take long until I experienced a "photographic epiphany!" I loved this little box and couldn't wait to shoot my next roll of film. There was an unexplainable magic I felt as I opened each envelope of prints. It was awesome. Soon after, I wasn't an architecture major anymore........photojournalism had become both my passion and my career path.

Soon, I began shooting for the university newspaper and yearbook, became a part-time shooter for the city newspaper, interned for a couple of Wisconsin newpapers, freelanced for the state editions of the Milwaukee dailies and just about anything else I could do with my cameras. Upon graduation, and a move to northern Illinois, my career as a full-time working photojournalist became a reality and since that time, I've photographed hard news ranging from blizzards and floods to car wrecks to presidential elections, high school, college and professional sports, hunan interest features and more ribbon cuttings and ground breakings than I care to admit. An opportunity to shoot for the University of Illinois News Bureau brought me to Champaign with my wife and daughter and since that time, I've had work published by newspapers and magazines and used by companies and agencies throughout the country.

I've since left the university but continue my photographic passion as a commercial and wedding pohtographer. The commercial photographer in me pushes me to create images beautiful in composition, originality and technically perfect. The photojournalist in me drives my passion to capture fleeting, story-telling moments.

To me, wedding photography is all about capturing images illustrating personal relationships. It's a bride and her best friends beginning their day at a salon full of laughter. It's about a groom and his buddies. It's the tears shed by a father as he walks his daughter down a long church aisle. It's a mother beaming with pride as she sees her son begin a new chapter in his life But most importantly, it's that special smile, that mischevious wink and that special and incredible love that you both share and the comfort you feel in each other's arms. It's the love you share.

Wow. From my love of cake to the love you share. I love photographing weddings and would love the opportunity to talk to you about photographing yours.
